It’s official, the Kangol x H&M collection has finally hit SA shores. Streetwise icon Kangol meets H&M with a 31 piece collection with iconic streetwear brand Kangol. Featured as co-collaborator is Mabel, BRIT Awards Best British Female Solo Artist and international music artist. Legendary streetwear label Kangol is one that can be instantly recognised for its kangaroo logo. Throughout the years, my introduction and re-introduction to the brand has been through the world of Hip-Hop music, with LL Cool J, Missy Elliott and other greats making it one of the coolest brands growing up. With that said, the classic Kangol bucket hat for one is a piece in the collection I can foresee selling out immediately. What pieces can you look forward to? As we officially dip out of Summer and into Autumn, the Kangol x H&M collection couldn’t have dropped at a better time. For the self-made generation like…

The news is officially out and the 28th of January just couldn’t come any sooner! H&M has collaborated with American denim legends Lee to push for the next generation of more sustainable denim. This collaboration takes a holistic approach which speaks to the conscious efforts H&M has been taking to play their part in a more sustainable approach to fashion. From fabric selection right through to production, sustainability is central to this collaborations design. WHAT FABRICS HAVE BEEN USED? H&M will officially introduce its first 100% recycled cotton jeans, made from 80% post-industrial waste and 20% post-consumer waste. One can also look forward to enjoying cotton-free denim, made instead from renewable man-made fibres, as well water-saving dyes and lower impact denim washes that are 3rd party verified for their lower water usage, chemical, and energy consumption.  To take things a step further, for the very first time, H&M will further…

Hey Lovers! I’m sure you all know by now just how much I love it when big retailers play a part in either giving back to society or of course playing their part in reducing waste that goes out into the environment. Through the Garment Collecting initiative, H&M is doing just that! H&M South Africa has been taking the necessary steps to ensure they play their role at fulfilling the goals they’ve set out towards a more sustainable fashion future. Through their partnership with Clothes For Good, a local social enterprise based in Pretoria, H&M touches on upcycling and recycling, two of the many ways to fulfilling their goals towards a more sustainable fashion future. For me, it’s definitely being a fashion recycler and the overall inclusion that this initiative encompasses! How it works: Step 1: Clothes to Good will collect customers’ recycled garments from the H&M Distribution Center Step…

The PUMA Rise Neon has officially dropped on PUMA.com and it’s the one sneaker that’s sure to brighten up your days through every hustle. An update to the Neon Rise silhouette, the PUMA Rise Neon is available in two fresh neon colorways – Fizzy Yellow and Nrgy Peach.  If you’re forward-thinking, bright and bold in your ways, this one’s for you! It’s silhouette is inspired by clouds with soft, opulent lines and an oh-so-comfortable construction. Materials are premium and plush. Overlays are smooth and supportive. If there’s one thing I can’t compromise on when it comes to a sneaker, it’s definitely comfort. I’m pleased to report back that the PUMA Rise Neon promises a comfortable construction, with supporting features such as the full neon mesh upper and tooling, a semi-translucent upper cage and RS technology. Because you can never simply judge a book by its cover, I also have to…

Over the past few years, there has been a great amount of conversation in the world of fashion around the manufacture of environmentally – conscious clothing. From the materials used, all the way to the production process, consumers are demanding a way forward that will be kinder to the environment . And with that being said, much pressure has been placed more especially on fast fashion retailers such as H&M to do better. H&M has continued to show its commitment to a more sustainable fashion future through its Conscious Collection. The latest AW20 Conscious Collection officially dropped yesterday, Thursday the 5th of March in all South African stores. One thing I particularly enjoy about this collection is that it makes sustainable fashion available to consumers at varying price points, which hasn’t been the norm in the world of fashion. The dress I’m wearing below for example retails at R329.00 which…

Last week Thursday, the 24th of October, I had the pleasure of joining in the festivities with Browns as they launched their newest collection and announced their Alpha Woman Competition. Held at the beautiful Summer Place in Hyde Park, the evening was a magical affair filled with glamour and luxury. Upon arrival, we were given a very warm welcome by Mr Larry Brown himself, who many of you may know is the co-owner of Browns. Mr Larry Brown took over the Browns business in the early 1980’s and has since built Brown’s into a brand known for it’s exceptional quality, incredible customer service and of course the most exquisite designs. With the very first Browns store opening as far back as 1934 in Fox Street, downtown Johannesburg, Brown’s has seen incredible growth and now has stores in various parts of South Africa, as well as in London. As the evening…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaCIUDa9pJQ Hey lovers, It feels as though we have jumped right from Winter and straight into Summer. Yes, pretty much skipping Spring. I thought to myself, why not share some of my favorite looks with you all, and also look into some trends we can all play around with this season. I created these looks from DENIM with casual vibes in mind. Of course you can always throw on a blazer and high heels if you want to make these looks a bit more formal. You’ll realise that two of the three looks are actually co-ords. I absolutely enjoy just how much room co-ords give me to play with my looks. They offer me the versatility that denims also give me, so I am able to somewhat “recycle” my looks. Below each of the looks, I’m going to give you the “alternative” of how else you can rock these pieces.…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcnfWQLlNDA&t=451s The MANTSHOxHM collaboration has been of particular interest to me since the very minute it was announced to be in the works. I couldn’t quite place my finger on exactly how the collaboration would translate to global markets, yet still remain true to the core values of the Mantsho brand, African prints and textures. However, Ihat I did know was that Africa was ready! On a fine Wednesday night, I missioned to Victoria Yards, which mind you, I’d never been to before. It seemed like quite a random location for such an occasion.  However, because I know just how well researched and strategic the H&M team is when it comes to creating a full on brand experience,  I knew it would be a night to remember! Once people had settled into the venue and had the opportunity to view the highly aticipated MantshoxHM pieces , we got an electric celebratory…

It’s always such a pleasure to watch the fashion space explore various ways of showcasing the beautiful work  of our South African designers. After all, we do have many more days on the calendar which the world of fashion can occupy – far beyond just the annual Fashion weeks which have established a solid footprint. On Thursday 15th of August, True Love Magazine in association with Mazda South Africa set out to host a “Night of Style” at The Galleria Conference and Events Venue in Sandton, South Africa.  This is the second year of Night of Style, and this years installment featured the designs of Matte Nolim, Superdry, Rubicon, Loin Cloth & Ashes, RUFF TUNG, Polo, Ryan Keyes, JJ Schoeman, Orapeleng Modutle Style Avenue, La Art Nevoile Emporium and Gert-Johan Coetzee. This was definitely a star studded affair, and everyone was dressed to the nines. Sponsors Bernini ensured each guest received…

Following two successful years of a creative collaboration, Gigi Hadid and Vogue Eyewear have come back once again with an all new Gigi Hadid x Vogue Eyewear Special Collection 2019. This collection in particular is focused on Gigi’s favorite fashion capital: New York. I was so excited to be invited for this collection preview based on what I know of the Vogue brand, as well as the previous collections. I also enjoy this collection particularly because each style was designed and named by Gigi herself. This isn’t always the case with collaborative efforts between brands and talent. Some have simply put their name on things and kept it moving, without any feeling or emotion for that personal touch. ZOOM IN Night or day, this frame has it wrapped. Modeled on the high-energy pace of New York, this statement style defines the dynamic personality of hard-to-beat women with an avant-garde wrapped…
