https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcnfWQLlNDA&t=451s The MANTSHOxHM collaboration has been of particular interest to me since the very minute it was announced to be in the works. I couldn’t quite place my finger on exactly how the collaboration would translate to global markets, yet still remain true to the core values of the Mantsho brand, African prints and textures. However, Ihat I did know was that Africa was ready! On a fine Wednesday night, I missioned to Victoria Yards, which mind you, I’d never been to before. It seemed like quite a random location for such an occasion.  However, because I know just how well researched and strategic the H&M team is when it comes to creating a full on brand experience,  I knew it would be a night to remember! Once people had settled into the venue and had the opportunity to view the highly aticipated MantshoxHM pieces , we got an electric celebratory…

It’s always such a pleasure to watch the fashion space explore various ways of showcasing the beautiful work  of our South African designers. After all, we do have many more days on the calendar which the world of fashion can occupy – far beyond just the annual Fashion weeks which have established a solid footprint. On Thursday 15th of August, True Love Magazine in association with Mazda South Africa set out to host a “Night of Style” at The Galleria Conference and Events Venue in Sandton, South Africa.  This is the second year of Night of Style, and this years installment featured the designs of Matte Nolim, Superdry, Rubicon, Loin Cloth & Ashes, RUFF TUNG, Polo, Ryan Keyes, JJ Schoeman, Orapeleng Modutle Style Avenue, La Art Nevoile Emporium and Gert-Johan Coetzee. This was definitely a star studded affair, and everyone was dressed to the nines. Sponsors Bernini ensured each guest received…

Following two successful years of a creative collaboration, Gigi Hadid and Vogue Eyewear have come back once again with an all new Gigi Hadid x Vogue Eyewear Special Collection 2019. This collection in particular is focused on Gigi’s favorite fashion capital: New York. I was so excited to be invited for this collection preview based on what I know of the Vogue brand, as well as the previous collections. I also enjoy this collection particularly because each style was designed and named by Gigi herself. This isn’t always the case with collaborative efforts between brands and talent. Some have simply put their name on things and kept it moving, without any feeling or emotion for that personal touch. ZOOM IN Night or day, this frame has it wrapped. Modeled on the high-energy pace of New York, this statement style defines the dynamic personality of hard-to-beat women with an avant-garde wrapped…

On the 4th of April I had the pleasure of being invited to a private media soiree to celebrate the CÎROC’ x Moschino partnership. This partnership is one which has definitely been the talk of the town for months, and it felt great to be a part of the big reveal! The soiree was held at the Diamond Walk’s Arque Bar, where we were introduced to this bold collaboration by our host of the night and CÎROC Brand Ambassador, Thando Thabethe. Thando was later joined on stage by fellow Brand Ambassador, Cassper Nyovest, as they shared with us their experience of the brand. Both brands share a playful attitude that goes against traditional rules in the space; respecting theircraft but not taking themselves too seriously. This campaign brings together fashion’s most playful brands and showcases a limited-edition CÎROC bottle customized by Jeremy Scott and we’re elated that this bottle will be…

Hey lovers! My Wednesday morning started off on a great note as I prepared myself for a lovely mid day out with H&M, for the preview of their SS 19 Studio Collection. The venue for the preview was the ever so tranquil Beechwood Gardens, which I had never been to before. I had a bit of a last minute panic about what to wear, but having seen some of the local and international fashionistas posts sporting the current Studio Collection, I cooked up the perfect outfit for the day. I absolutely love how well the SA H&M team manages to get it right ALL the time. Their attention to detail and securing the perfect locations is everything. It allows us as the consumers to tap into the world and energy they have envisioned for each particular collection. It’s an entire EXPERIENCE! Inspired by “The Glam Explorer,” the H&M Studio collection…

About a week ago, I had the opportunity of joining The Istituto Italiano Di Cultura for an exclusive fashion masterclass at Sandton Sun Hotel Conference room. The masterclass was presented by special guest, professor Eugenia Paulicelli who is from Queens College and The Graduate Center, The City University of New York. Eugenia made her way to South Africa in celebration of Italian Design Day 2019, which is celebrated every year in many different cities around the world. Different fields of design are celebrated, from interior, graphic design, to architecture. This year, in Johannesburg South Africa, the particular celebration is focused on Italian Fashion. As part of the celebration, you have until the 7th of April to journey through Sandton City’s Diamond walk to see some of the most spectacular Italian designer dresses dating back to the 1980s. Now back to fashion masterclass. I found it to be quite an insightful…

There’s been a lot happening in the world of fashion of late. Just yesterday, we heard of the passing of Karl Lagerfeld in Paris. This saw many models and celebrities who have worked with the legend pay their respect to the ‘genius’ fashion designer. Long time creative director of Chanel and boasting many more hats in the fashion industry  for the past five decades, Lagerfeld’s phenomenal sense of creativity, power and bold statements are sure to be celebrated for years to come. A respectable appearance is sufficient to make people more interested in your soul. – Karl Lagerfeld Still under the topic of fashion, Kim Kardashian West took to Twitter shortly after paying her respect Lagerfeld, expressing her frustrations with the current state of the fashion industry, boutique stores in particular. The issue of intellectual property and copyright infringement is one many battle with in many industries, and the fashion…

Some of you may be in the loop with the news on one of the most exciting collaborations to come about in fashion, the MOSCHINO [tv] H&M collection which was showcase at New York Fashion Week a couple of weeks ago.  At the sight of this collection “GLAM,  SASS, POP-CULTURE” were the first words which came to mind. For those who missed the big news, I’ve got you covered! At NYFW, H&M and MOSCHINO’s Creative Director Jeremy Scott had an audience boasting some of the biggest celebrities, influencers and international editors. As if that wasn’t enough, the catwalk was a star studded affair! Throughout this post I’ve shared with you images from the big night, not only to show you some of the big names who walked the runway, but to also share with you some of my favorite looks from the collection. From the Hadid Siblings to the OG…

Over the past few years, we’ve seen many brands partner with celebrities on their fashion line. This global trend has been a great way for brands to further reach and communicate to their targeted consumer through working with a celebrity they best believe reflects who they are too.  I’ve had the pleasure of watching Footwork smoothly transform its position in the fashion world. Launched 1989, the brand still stands to speak to the busy, fashion-savvy women who need footwear for every occasion. As we step into summer, Footwork introduces a statement collection as well as the Face for the SS18 collection – K Naomi. “The celebrities Footwork chose to partner with each season represent hard-working women with a deep understanding of themselves; who have excelled in their chosen fields; who are independent and are ultimately style icons in South Africa – displaying qualities that the Footwork customer can relate to. The SS18 collection…

The maxi dress trend is one which many feel they can’t be a part of, simply because of their height. Well, let me tell you something – the maxi is not only for the tall and slim lady. Absolutely anyone can rock a maxi in style, provided you find a great fit which accentuates the best part of your body. I myself am really not as tall as I appear to be in images, and so this dress was a questionable choice for me at first. My first thought was that I was going to drown in all the material but to my surprise that wasn’t the case at all. I still feel as though the images don’t do justice to this dress! I love the combination of vibrant colors tossed up together and how light weight the dress truly is. I felt like I was literally floating in this…
