It’s official, the Kangol x H&M collection has finally hit SA shores. Streetwise icon Kangol meets H&M with a 31 piece collection with iconic streetwear brand Kangol. Featured as co-collaborator is Mabel, BRIT Awards Best British Female Solo Artist and international music artist.
Legendary streetwear label Kangol is one that can be instantly recognised for its kangaroo logo. Throughout the years, my introduction and re-introduction to the brand has been through the world of Hip-Hop music, with LL Cool J, Missy Elliott and other greats making it one of the coolest brands growing up. With that said, the classic Kangol bucket hat for one is a piece in the collection I can foresee selling out immediately.
What pieces can you look forward to?
As we officially dip out of Summer and into Autumn, the Kangol x H&M collection couldn’t have dropped at a better time. For the self-made generation like Mabel, for those who enjoy a fresh, fun and authentic take on fashion, there’s definitely something for you.
“Kangol is excited to work with H&M and Mabel on this collaboration. The collection perfectly captures the essence of Kangol today, full of fresh updates on streetwear style. We look forward to seeing our global Kangol community wearing KangolxHM.”
– Hamish Morjaria, Kangol’s Head of Brand Partnerships and Licensing
You can look forward to finding some key pieces to add to your autumn wardrobe. From the must have hooded puffer jacket and long puffer, to slouchy cardigans and sweaters knitted with the Kangol branding and logo. The oversized tee is one that will also catch your eye, as well as the cropped rollneck sweaters in a yummy cream or colour stripes. Last but not least, the logo long-sleeve stretch midi-dress I’m sporting in the images above. I’m obsessed with the quality of this dress, and I love just how bold yet subtle it is. The classic Kangol logo is perfectly positioned and takes this dress straight to the top!
When it comes to the accessories in the collection, I’m particularly excited about the play on texture that’s been added to the signature Kangol bucket hat, as well as on to the bum bag. I’m also really enjoying the boxy cross-body bag with a Kangol branded strap. Not only is it spacious, but it also gives you the option to make the strap shorter if you like, and style it up the way I did.
You can also look forward to beanies and a beanie pompom, a shopper, bag charms, Kangol- branded socks and scrunchies.
I’m also really keen on the two pieces Mabel herself co-created: a streetwear take on the slip dress with hints of lumo here and there, and a Kangol-branded pair of joggers. Her fresh, daring take on styling gives me confidence in just how practical and stylish one will be in her pieces.
Another really cool element to this drop I’m enjoying is definitely the Kangol x H&M filters. We can all now experience our very own “self-made star” moment through playing around with the exclusive Kangol x H&M filters that can be found on the H&M homepage and shared on your stories. The bomb, sassy track on that – Bad Behaviour by Mabel! Try yourself out and have fun with it. I sure did!
“I am so excited about this collaboration with Kangol and H&M! Streetwear is in my blood and Kangol is a legendary brand. It’s amazing to collaborate with Kangol and H&M, and to share my creativity and my style with a new generation.” – Mabel
The Kangol x H&M collection will be available in V&A, Canal Walk and Cavendish in Cape Town, Sandton City and Mall of Africa in Johannesburg, Menlyn Park in Pretoria and Gateway in Durban.
