One of the fashion trends which have had a well deserved resurrection is undoubtedly the mommy jean.  After dying out of the fashion scene 20 years ago, their comeback has been one of the strongest and most consistent I have ever seen. Mommy jeans are constantly being revamped to the current trends but are yet to lose their essence – comfort – which is why we truly love them. Not only do they sit so well on the natural waistline (which makes me wonder about waist-trained waists), what’s not to love about a good pair of blue wash denims which guarantee a good tummy tuck?

IMG_3440When I read up further on this fashion must-have, I realized how controversial their return actually was and the big message to them around ones sexuality and embracing ones current body shape.

A rather unsettling comment I just had to share:

“Mom jeans are designed for comfort and concealment, while “mom jeans” mock the need to cover up the flaws of a non-catwalk-ready body by emphasizing their absence, with the added bonus of mocking other flawless girls who’ve fallen for the far more pedestrian charms of skin-tight low-riders”.

What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear from you.

Personally, I absolutely love my mommy jeans. From the comfort the cut they provide, right to the looks I can create when I style it MY way.

Check out how Beyoncé styled hers, and how I too have styled my look with my fav pair of Levi’s mommy jeans.
