It’s official! H&M has dropped a brand new activewear collection and I’m so thrilled to be part of the squad. Look, it’s #morethanjustactivewear and there is something for everyone! Comfort meets practicality and style with this collection sporting supportive sports bras, comfy hoodies, seamless leggings and more. In case you haven’t popped into your nearest H&M store to check out the new activewear collection, check out the Youtube video linked below which will be a look see/try-on-haul vibe into how the pieces look and how you can play around with the combos. https://youtu.be/VGm8brSDxWQ I love shooting campaigns that speak to everything I’m about. Inclusivity, style and comfort are what spoke to me with this one. I have no doubt you’ll love what you see, especially when you feel this material on your skin. Long story short, we made magic with the incredible squad which includes Lechelle Aldridge, Simhle Plaatjies and…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcnfWQLlNDA&t=451s The MANTSHOxHM collaboration has been of particular interest to me since the very minute it was announced to be in the works. I couldn’t quite place my finger on exactly how the collaboration would translate to global markets, yet still remain true to the core values of the Mantsho brand, African prints and textures. However, Ihat I did know was that Africa was ready! On a fine Wednesday night, I missioned to Victoria Yards, which mind you, I’d never been to before. It seemed like quite a random location for such an occasion. However, because I know just how well researched and strategic the H&M team is when it comes to creating a full on brand experience, I knew it would be a night to remember! Once people had settled into the venue and had the opportunity to view the highly aticipated MantshoxHM pieces , we got an electric celebratory…
Hey lovers! My Wednesday morning started off on a great note as I prepared myself for a lovely mid day out with H&M, for the preview of their SS 19 Studio Collection. The venue for the preview was the ever so tranquil Beechwood Gardens, which I had never been to before. I had a bit of a last minute panic about what to wear, but having seen some of the local and international fashionistas posts sporting the current Studio Collection, I cooked up the perfect outfit for the day. I absolutely love how well the SA H&M team manages to get it right ALL the time. Their attention to detail and securing the perfect locations is everything. It allows us as the consumers to tap into the world and energy they have envisioned for each particular collection. It’s an entire EXPERIENCE! Inspired by “The Glam Explorer,” the H&M Studio collection…
It’s no surprise that I’m a huge fan of collaborations and partnerships. And this one in particular that I’m about to let you in on has me real excited because of my personal love for the car brand MINI. MINI has always been front and centre in maintaining the brand image in its essence and yet continuously adjusting to the times and demands of its marketing. MINI has also always supported artists in different industries through their “MINI drives…” for example DJ Fresh. This time around, MINI has involved themselves in the fashion space, partnering with South African Fashion Week (SAFW) to bring the “MINI Scouting Menswear” in association with GQ Magazine. Some may wonder, “What is the love affair between fashion and cars?” Locally, we’ve seen Gert Johan Coetzee translate his love for luxury and exclusivity through a beautiful shoot with Bonang Matheba and Maya Mia at the Ferrari…
Full of narratives memories and stories, ERDEM x H&M is a deeply personal collection that looks back to the designer’s youth, and to the codes that have defined his work over the past decade. It’s about the romantic dresses he saw in English films, his father’s coat that his mother draped over her shoulders, or the cool style of 90s TV and music videos. To create ERDEM x H&M, he imagined the dream English countryside getaway, mixing gowns with tailoring, functionality with drama, as different generations and backgrounds interpret the wardrobe with each individuals own style. Each piece is designed exclusively for H&M, and will be available in around 220 stores worldwide, as well as on hm.com, from November 2. KEY THEMES Exquisite statement pieces Erdem’s fans cherish his designs forever, and ERDEM x H&M is overflowing with special pieces that will become like heirlooms. A sleeveless ball gown of…
I’ve never been brave enough to wrap myself up head to toe in such a daring color! However, for the color series, Junia Tsekiso (creative director for this shoot) had me well out of my comfort zone.Of all the looks we played around with, this one in particular is definitely my top favorite! I loved the fact that we were playing around with denim, and not just any basic denim denim. The sleeves of the jacket add much character to the overall look which makes this outfit particularly a great pick when you want to go for an effortless look. I wore both the top and pants for this combo, but if it’s all too overwhelming for you, you can wear the pieces separately. Look, I’m saying why not go on and be BOLD for a change. Summer is knocking at the door and red is definitely top of the list…
It’s always encouraging to see that someone still sees value in doing the important work of building a nation of intelligent, business savvy youth. A week ago I came across a program which is doing exactly this! Yes, Instagram and all other social media platforms are in many ways a tool to reaching your desired audience – it’s not JUST Instagram. Having obtained a degree for a Bcom in Marketing Management and Supply Chain Management, it was a no brainer for me to want to enter into the world of entrepreneurship. However, it’s not as easy as it seems. There is a large gap which needs to be bridged after one studies and as one enters into the reality of what it actually takes to make it in such a cut throat environment. Now to introduce to you Threads, the Business of Fashion accelerator program, sponsored by Standard Bank in association with Mercedez-Benz. To…
Hey guys! So I had the lovely opportunity to attend an exclusive preview the new Studio Collection at the H&M showroom in Cape Town. Unfortunately, I was unable to make the event, but I still made sure I got the scoop for you from the H&M PR team as to what you can expect from the collection.H&M STUDIO WOMENSWEAR AW17: URBAN SOPHISTICATION “This collection is all about tailoring, enhancing the female silhouette. While there are ultra-feminine details, we’ve combined them with street or punk influences for a hard-edged yet sophisticated result,” says Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Head of Design and creative director. This range boasts a solid color palette. Black, white, navy, earthy hues, grey melagne and pops of Klein blue and burgundy. Ps: I know for sure those with a minimalistic aesthetic will be quite pleased with what’s in store for them. What I can personally say about this range is…
Considering that I’ve been in Johannesburg for nearly half a year already, I still have a lot of hidden gems to discover in the city. One of the jewels I discovered not so long ago with one of my friends was the Circa Gallery in Rosebank. In as much as it’s so popular on Instagram and the stunning pictures people take on the famous spiraling staircase, I had to go explore it for myself. What I loved about the space was how it wasn’t like any gallery I’ve ever seen before. They really push the envelope in how they present the art to evoke emotion and any thought process in ones mind really. From paintings on the wall, an overhead projector telling a story on another wall to large structures right in the middle of the room. Furthermore, there are levels to this gallery… LITERALLY! “The most eye-catching aspect of…
One of the freshest styles to hit us for Summer/Spring has been that of Mesh clothing. From mesh swimwear, sweaters to mesh overlays on dresses. When styled right, mesh can allow you to create a variety of looks to match your personal style. And now, enter the Metallic Shimmer Mesh. I spotted this blue/purple metallic shimmer mesh tee while shopping at The Fix. What struck me most about the tee was the metallic effect, and how there were two color ways to the top making it quite eventful. The metallic element will give quite an edgy effect to ANY outfit. I personally decided to keep the undergarment quite simple and wore a black bandeau which I also purchased from The Fix. Alternatively, you can wear this tee with a simple bralette or even a bikini top. Well then, what about the winter season? No, we’re not chucking the mesh just…
