In fashion, I believe there has been such a huge misconception around looking great and the influence your “pocket” has on this.

So, I have compiled a few simple pointers to help us as ladies figure out the answer to the million dollar question of:

How to look A-List on a budget?

Where to shop :

  • Your Closet

You definitely need to make the first stop in your closet! Clean UP and clean OUT. You’re likely to find quite a few hidden jewels you may have overlooked before. In the same breath, you may also find pieces you totally find no longer speak for and express your current personal style. With so many trends popping up, why not make your own trend? You can also get your hands dirty and up cycle key items in your wardrobe into something beautiful. Up cycling is after all the new wave of sustainable fashion. An example may be to switch up your jeans to meet the trend of distressed jeans. Follow some at home D.I.Y instructions on that and you’re good to go!

My mother has been quite the educator for me when it comes to shopping on a tight budget and from her I have learned of the option of visiting outlet stores which usually offer great discounts on items as compared to retail stores.

  • Online Shopping

For those who are for and trust online shopping, try eBay and other online stores which offer great bargains on items you would otherwise purchase for far more in retail stores.

What to shop:

Avoid print items on cheaper items as they do tend to give away the price of the items at times.

When shopping for bags, you might want to purchase a bag with the shape of a Birkin bag, giving it a high end look and feel to it.

When shopping for accessories you can go for all the trendy accessories to update your more basic pieces with a modern and on-trend look. This also includes the sunglass frames, colors and styles you may go for.

When to shop:

Those off season sales are definitely your BFF! Shop your staples during this time at much lower prices. We live in a country which doesn’t experience extreme weather changes as we move through the seasons, and trends have a way of being consistent when it comes to staple pieces after all.

How to shop:

Invest more in classic and timeless basics. More importantly, be sure that when you are doing your shopping, you work with the wardrobe you have so everything compliments well. You also want to invest in pieces which work for you through out each season.
