Simplicity with an edge – Thandolwethu Tsekiso

Whether you’re headed off to the the movies or stepping out for Friday night festivities with the ladies, a humble white T and a pair of blue jeans are the perfect go to for a simple look. Both items are not only versatile, but they have a cool and easy going feel to them.

However, I have decided switched up the concept of a humble white T and jeans for a little bit of an edgy look which also adheres to current trends and is perfect for any season!

Let’s take a moment and explore the variety of denims currently making waves in the market. For one, ripped/distressed jeans are definitely a thing! Another personal favorite has been the trend of embroidery on denims as well as print on denims. With the growing sale of iron on badges and stickers, one can now personalize their denims and feel like a designer for the day. This trend definitely gets a nod from me for the creative control it affords the consumer.Another trend which has been on and off is that of Neon colors. I’ve only seen a few people get this one right and had honestly been put off of anything neon. Lucky enough for me I spotted a pair of Stilettos from PLUM which I absolutely loved, and every girl has to own at least one pair of those right… but they were NEON! So, for this shoot I’ve decided to try myself out, and the only way I was going to be wearing anything neon was if the rest of my outfit was truly simple.

I dug through my wardrobe to find something which could complement these shoes quite well and my search was surprisingly successful. I dug out a lovely pair of denims I had purchased from The Fix which have a bright and bold flower print on the left leg, perfectly matching my neon babies! Some people may alternatively choose to go with plain blue denims and instead go neon with nails or a pop of color on the lips.For the top part of my outfit, I decided to go with a white on trend top from Adequate Boutique. What I love about this top is how it accentuates my collar bones which I absolutely love! Off-the-shoulder tops are really great at giving a sexy yet casual touch to any look and any body frame. You may need to balance out the widening effect of an off-the-shoulder top by wearing a dainty or chunky piece of jewelry, depending on your body type.Another cute feature to this top is that it is comes with a removable tie strap which I kept on, and thus gives good overall proportion and balances to the entire visual. I mean, What’s not to love about an hourglass body shape and defined waist line?!
