WCW , is a widely used acronym in the cyber world to somewhat pay homage to women one may admire . This trend has become a hit across all social media platforms , from Facebook to Twitter to Tumblr and not forgetting Instagram.
Social media expert , Leslie Walker writes , “WCW has become a cultural “award” or unofficial honor that anyone can bestow on anyone, “.
WCW stands for Women Crush Wednesday , and of course you could be crushing on any aspect which you admire of the specific woman , but most commonly the crush is over the physical attributes one possess – their beauty .
I came across an interesting piece written by Siseko Mzimela , aka @CaseyWaves on Instagram on Wednesday 7/10/15 and thought to further share parts of his views which I found to be significant .
” I’m guilty of roasting black girls all the time , I used to think it’s hilarious and innocent fun , but growing up lately has made me realize that in that , I helped create an inferior complex for a lot of these girls to live in and still wondered why they were so sour.
A friend of mine told me that you won’t be treated like a man until you start acting like one and that’s true.
Nowadays as black men , we psychologically are taken by the Willie Lynch theory. Instead of protecting our black women , we’re the same men breaking them down , telling them how to dress and what being a woman entails like we know better.Calling women b&%^* and h*** and finding it funny . Something I used to do a lot and quite frankly i’m ashamed of myself yeah.
A lot of us treat women like s*** then act surprised when they don’t act like ladies, even the online bullying and the “shes a hoe if” jokes. It’s actually not that funny.
This isn’t fake deep or anything , I’m just sharing a theory , a different one. What if , black men and women treated each other with mutual respect. Girls always go on about broke niggas and guys always go on about hoes. There’s very low empowerment amongst the two races. Willie Lynch said in his speech that if you wanna control your black slaves , you pit them against each other. Light skinned vs dark skinned , black men vs black women.Divided we fall.
It’s easy to pimp a butterfly when it doesn’t know what it’s worth .
Maybe if we love and embrace our women for who they are , maybe they will do the same. Black women provide a balance , the more we bash them , the more we as men will also continue to fall. We’re destroying our own foundations. ”
Pretty interesting wouldn’t you say ?
