It’s that time of the year again where we are hearing and reading  a lot of “New Year, New Me” declerations.  For me, a new year symbolises an opportunity to try again. It isn’t a beginning nor is it an end, but a continuation of one’s life journey. The new year must serve as a mark for deciding how you wish to proceed on this very journey. To try do things in a better way with a renewed spirit and renewed effort. It’s basically like hitting the refresh button. Look, there are too many solid lessons and revelations from the previous year not to take them into the new year. So with that said, are we saying “New Year, New Me” or “New Year, Same (but more focused) Me?”

It’s really up to you!

Let’s establish what a New Year’s Resolution is:

“A New Year’s resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behaviour, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life.”

I believe in setting realistic New Year’s resolutions which help me reach the goals I’ve set out for the year ahead.

One of my New Year’s resolutions in 2019 is to take five hours to either read or listen to a podcast relevant to my personal focus for the week. To tap out of the world of social media, and re-focus my mind and thoughts so that they are in tune with what I believe to matter most in life – be it a read or podcast on Marketing Strategy, Purpose and the life stories of the Greats. I’m BIG on studying the greats!

What are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2019? Let me know in the comments section.

We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives…not looking for flaws, but for potential.

I commit to entering 2019 with love and peace in my heart. May this year bring you new wisdom, and reveal to you a clear path.  May God’s love and light cover you in this new  chapter of your journey.

Happy New Year, lovers!
