One of the fashion trends which have had a well deserved resurrection is undoubtedly the mommy jean.  After dying out of the fashion scene 20 years ago, their comeback has been one of the strongest and most consistent I have ever seen. Mommy jeans are constantly being revamped to the current trends but are yet to lose their essence – comfort – which is why we truly love them. Not only do they sit so well on the natural waistline (which makes me wonder about waist-trained waists), what’s not to love about a good pair of blue wash denims which guarantee a good tummy tuck? When I read up further on this fashion must-have, I realized how controversial their return actually was and the big message to them around ones sexuality and embracing ones current body shape. A rather unsettling comment I just had to share: “Mom jeans are designed…

In fashion, I believe there has been such a huge misconception around looking great and the influence your “pocket” has on this. So, I have compiled a few simple pointers to help us as ladies figure out the answer to the million dollar question of: How to look A-List on a budget? Where to shop : Your Closet You definitely need to make the first stop in your closet! Clean UP and clean OUT. You’re likely to find quite a few hidden jewels you may have overlooked before. In the same breath, you may also find pieces you totally find no longer speak for and express your current personal style. With so many trends popping up, why not make your own trend? You can also get your hands dirty and up cycle key items in your wardrobe into something beautiful. Up cycling is after all the new wave of sustainable fashion.…

Hey ladies – and gents 🙂 So, it’s that time of the year once again where it starts getting a lot warmer, signalling that I can get back to my bikini life. The melanin-rich skin becomes darker; the sea water feels warmer; life gets so much better. I mean, as a young African lady who grew up in various conservative environments, it has taken everything IN me to grow into being fully confident in my flaws (and all). With this in mind, I totally believe that I have reached my personal pinnacle when it comes to being confident in my femininity and the beautiful curvaceousness that it comes with. Firstly, I must acknowledge what a privilege it is to be living in an era that allows for limitless expression, enabled by the generous array of social media platforms. I recently posted one of my unedited takeouts from a photo-shoot where I was wearing swimwear on my Instagram page and had someone have a go at body-shaming me –  apparently having the time of their life…

Well , what I’m about to type out has nothing to do with fashion / what I’m wearing in this post but still has everything to do with ME ! On my previous blog I always had posts up of my thoughts and what not , and I really don’t want to dispose of that part of me and being able to share it on my public platforms. So I’m right back ! Anyway , here’s a bit of ME right now: At no point is the position you are in of no contribution to your growth . At every stage of your life , the position you are in is for you to be of service , to a bigger picture than yourself . And from serving come lessons and furthermore growth. The very growth which you require to fully take advantage of and be “ready ” to handle…

So , I had to pump the brakes on the black pumps and try myself with a fresh pair of white pumps. Quite a tricky shoe color to pair with a black dress and still not have it look like a uniform , right ?! I really enjoy the fit , texture and look of this black cotton dress. Simply because it appears to be a two piece when it’s really a one piece. It also has a cute open back detail which shows a bit of skin , just enough as it already is really short ! To accessorize I threw on a warm red faux fur stole , pearl bracelet and matching neck piece for a classy , cute , trendy Durban winter look.

So I have had the absolute pleasure once again of working with the newly re branded The Fix of The Foschini Group. This time around I had to create the perfect #OOTD look. From researching current trends , to trying to keep it as simple , relevant and relateable as can be . Putting together my look worked out trickier than most would imagine . Accessories are EVERYTHING at achieving the perfect edgy look. You can shop my entire look from The Fix  #TheFixZA_OOTD – Black peep toe suede boots with eyelets for the edgy look – Choker with black fringe for the sass – Black leather bag with chunky chain detail which you can rock as a clutch / sling bag Photographer : @Innographer

It’s that time of the year once again where it starts getting a bit more chilly and the coats and jackets come out to play. Personally , Autumn and Winter are my favorite seasons because of the fashion  . For now , having not fully stepped into the Winter season ( Esp. Durban ) , it’s always worked out best to have a light coat / jacket to throw over when the weather switches up on you. Something light which also doesn’t kill your outfit. So I have decided to share with you images of me taken not so long ago  in a few coats which really won me over.

The Monday blues is what they’re called but I sure am one to experience Friday Blues , where the weekend seems so far but yet so close and you just can’t wait for the working day to end. This is a feeling surely experienced by every single one of us as we reminisce on the memories made from our past weekend looking forward to the wonderful adventures of the one to come. This look is perfect at depicting that lazy effortless “Friday Blues ” mood for your day to day movements on campus or in the office . A pair of sandals or preferred style of high heels carry this image  well for the office , or if you’re on campus just throw on some flats ( not pumps – pleaaaaaase !! ) . The shirt offers the button up option but we opted for the unbuttoned look which gives a softer touch to…
