I know I’m definitely a week behind and might have missed the bus on speaking on this here topic, but a week later or not, I’m about to dive in. Many people may not know but last week was Fashion Revolution Week. I mean, I also had absolutely no clue until I kept seeing the hashtag #whomademyclothes and followed the conversation. So, what is the Fashion Revolution all about? Quote on Quote “Fashion Revolution is a global movement calling for greater transparency, sustainability and ethics in the fashion industry.” Unquote, so basically it’s all about bringing awareness to the more sidelined aspects of making a garment. It’s definitely true that there are topics which we seem to turn a blind eye on when it comes to our conversations on fashion. I’d assume it’s purely because as humans we are very content with simply focusing on the now and being satisfied…

It’s 1:52 AM and I just can’t seem to get my body to shut down and rest. Oh well, I guess this is all for a reason – I mean, we haven’t had “Tenacious Talks” in a minute. I think this time is a particularly good time, having just passed Easter, to engage. Also, it’s quite an interesting and trying time in politics in our country. Let me tell you, I’m so exhausted. The energy has been so overwhelming and exhausting! No matter how much we may try to avoid or distance ourselves from the realities of what’s going on in our country, we simply can’t! During one of the most recent strikes in the country while driving myself to Steers for some junk to feel better, a journalist from the Daily News contacted me for my opinion on the military print possibly being ban from being worn by the…

One of the freshest styles to hit us for Summer/Spring has been that of Mesh clothing. From mesh swimwear, sweaters to mesh overlays on dresses. When styled right, mesh can allow you to create a variety of looks to match your personal style. And now, enter the Metallic Shimmer Mesh. I spotted this blue/purple metallic shimmer mesh tee while shopping at The Fix. What struck me most about the tee was the metallic effect, and how there were two color ways to the top making it quite eventful. The metallic element will give quite an edgy effect to ANY outfit. I personally decided to keep the undergarment quite simple and wore a black bandeau which I also purchased from The Fix. Alternatively, you can wear this tee with a simple bralette or even a bikini top. Well then, what about the winter season? No, we’re not chucking the mesh just…

I had the lovely opportunity of being exclusively invited to The Saxon for a one of a kind “fashion show” hosted by designer Gert-Johan Coetzee. With only 40 guests invited, we were treated to welcome drinks and eats before being ushered into an intimate auditorium where we were welcomed by the man of the moment himself. Gert went on to give us a brief introduction of his new range of quality handbags and how they’re each uniquely designed to embrace the different lifestyles of a GJC girl. Interesting fact: Gert has stopped using flat patterns and is now creating patterns with fabric which is the French way of doing things. “I really am proud of the quality of these bags and how durable they are, and of course how beautiful the color and rich the leather is.” After all was said and done, the moment had finally arrived… we had…

It is without a doubt that the South African retail industry is also going through its highs and lows. With a trend of stores opening and closing down soon after, the question definitely arises as to WHY this is the case. Stores closing down is due to things such as not doing enough market research or poor supply chain management. On the other hand, we’ve definitely seen some stores flourish and spread right throughout the country. Amongst these stores is namely Edgars , which has been played it very smartly and houses numerous other brands such as Forever New. The most recent store opening is the Edgar’s Ballito, and that’s what US fashionistas are more concerned about! The first thing which comes to mind are the opening specials/deals which may be, YES! I’ve compiled some tips and tricks to shopping at a SALE or store OPENING. 1. Be sure to arrive in…

Living in the beautiful city of Durban, my personal style is not only about being chic but ensuring absolute comfort through out my day activities. First and foremost, let me be very candid and tell you guys that I actually had a previous assumption that HUSH Puppies was actually a brand worn by the “oldies”. To my surprise, when I had a look at their website I was able to put together a good selection of favorites. The variety that hush puppies offers allows me to move from a Soft style shoe when I’m taking a strol along the beach to a well detailed sandal or loafers for my lunch dates with the girls. For soft style, I went with a brown strip slip on. And finally, for my lunch dates and evenings out I chose this comfortable flirty glittery style with a hint of gold. Let me know what your favorite…

Before we dip into the grunge which is winter (my favorite season), I thought to myself why not play around with a bit more of a brighter look? This dress definitely braugh the out  the kid in me as it boasts a combination of my favorite colors during childhood. These colors are quite fruity and allow a bit of a flirty appeal – You’re sure to get a nod from your peers with this one! What I’m also really into right now are well designed garments. Garments which appeal to my desire for simplicity in my personal style and give me that everyday practicality. My favorite thing about this dress is that it adds a bit of personality to the look with its play with length in the front. And ooh, those straps give the perfect lift off after the subtle V-plunge. I paired this look with my sling clutch and heels from Charles & Keith.…

Hey guys! So I recently had the opportunity of working with head photographer for @72_photography who also has an online magazine called Urban Fashion Lifestyle which he runs with a great team. UFL is an online magazine which truly reflects South African style. With topics ranging from street style to trending looks, conversations with style experts and coverage at fashion weeks, UFL is definitely making moves in the fashion industry. I also genuinely enjoy the platform they afford models to share their “come up” stories. An extension of UFL which is my personal favorite is their YouTube channel. I’ve always connected better to articles with great visuals and personality behind each article, and their YouTube channel offers just that! They have featured quite a few of my personal favorite SA Stylista’s with an interesting take on fashion and creatively allowing for each Stylista to represent themselves and their personal style…
