Hey ladies – and gents 🙂 So, it’s that time of the year once again where it starts getting a lot warmer, signalling that I can get back to my bikini life. The melanin-rich skin becomes darker; the sea water feels warmer; life gets so much better. I mean, as a young African lady who grew up in various conservative environments, it has taken everything IN me to grow into being fully confident in my flaws (and all). With this in mind, I totally believe that I have reached my personal pinnacle when it comes to being confident in my femininity and the beautiful curvaceousness that it comes with. Firstly, I must acknowledge what a privilege it is to be living in an era that allows for limitless expression, enabled by the generous array of social media platforms. I recently posted one of my unedited takeouts from a photo-shoot where I was wearing swimwear on my Instagram page and had someone have a go at body-shaming me –  apparently having the time of their life…

Don’t hold yourself back by doubting that which is invested in you, that which you have been assigned to. Be sure and confident, unapologetically so, of the vision which has been planted and rooted so deeply in you. Behind every door you will be dealt a different set of cards. Your job is simply to remain calm and make the best of the cards dealt. Celebrate your successes and be further motivated by your failures as well as the milestones reached. Reflections of the past can offer you greater perspective. Taking that time to reflect can help you map out the destination you wish to get to and figure out the little roads which will get you there. Live beyond your day-to-day feelings s, life beyond yourself !

Be very careful of the people you keep in your space as well as the conversations you allow into your space. As we all know we become products of our environments so easily, accepting and seeing our current positioning as the reality. As well, be assured that not everyone around you will understand your dreams and see the potential in you, not even those closest to you. It must surely be such a scary and emotional space to be in, alone with your dreams. When you believe so strongly in what you hold, a beautiful secret, a gift really to the world which you want to unleash . And for being gifted with this dream, such great responsibility is immediately placed on you. From wherever you are, do whatever you can to getting a step closer to your dreams. Platforms are all around us, for which you to build or…

WCW , is a widely used acronym in the cyber world to somewhat pay homage to women one may admire . This trend has become a hit across all social media platforms , from Facebook to Twitter to Tumblr and not forgetting Instagram. Social media expert , Leslie Walker writes , “WCW has become a cultural “award” or unofficial honor that anyone can bestow on anyone, “. WCW stands for Women Crush Wednesday , and of course you could be crushing on any aspect which you admire of the specific woman , but most commonly the crush is over the physical attributes one possess – their beauty . I came across an interesting piece written by Siseko Mzimela , aka @CaseyWaves on Instagram on Wednesday 7/10/15 and thought to further share parts of his views which I found to be significant . ” I’m guilty of roasting black girls all…

Very few organisations nowadays have actual pure intent at putting out content which is positive, mutually beneficial and readily available to the youth and just the general public at large. To move us, to direct us and to actually affirm us in our potential. My days are filled with a large pool of content from various YouTube pages which I am subscribed to. For the longest time I have been following the Nedbank page and more specifically the Nedbank Talk For Success. I have loved the content which is put out, highly relatable, conversational and more importantly motivational. The latest posts which I have identified with are the part 1-7 by The Queen B herself, Bonang Matheba as well as Nandi Mngoma. More specifically, the 5th point is what stuck out for me in Bonang’s talk. The law of attraction, as was introduced and affirmed for me for the first…

The reality of life is that you’re never really alone but need to be able to identify yourself as an individual in the crowd. You need to deal with the war within yourself before even considering the war on the outer, what people have to say about you. Let not your voice imprison you or wear you out. Your inner voice is far louder and holds so much power over us than we actually know. So much responsibility has been committed to you solely by the gift which rests in you, for the world. That idea of who you truly are, run with it. Take that step confidently and boldly because it may be the key transitionary step from who you thought you were into who you were born to be. Step into your purpose, don’t stumble down the steps because of the doubt that is trying to take over…

Decisions and choices are such tests of character . Over the years I most certainly have always been baffled as to how people come up with the conclusions and the decisions they do . It’s true what they say that you shouldn’t mock a pain or situation you haven’t had first hand experience of. The hardest decisions to make very often involve you having to be selfish and I must say that’s not something that comes easily for me . I have had to realise that being selfish isn’t necessarily a bad thing , it isn’t actually what it is made out to be . Being selfish is seemingly viewed from one dimension , and I would say ‘selfish ‘ is simply a harsh way of saying one must align their priorities . What are my priorities ? Well , that’s what I had a tough time having to think…
