https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcnfWQLlNDA&t=451s The MANTSHOxHM collaboration has been of particular interest to me since the very minute it was announced to be in the works. I couldn’t quite place my finger on exactly how the collaboration would translate to global markets, yet still remain true to the core values of the Mantsho brand, African prints and textures. However, Ihat I did know was that Africa was ready! On a fine Wednesday night, I missioned to Victoria Yards, which mind you, I’d never been to before. It seemed like quite a random location for such an occasion. However, because I know just how well researched and strategic the H&M team is when it comes to creating a full on brand experience, I knew it would be a night to remember! Once people had settled into the venue and had the opportunity to view the highly aticipated MantshoxHM pieces , we got an electric celebratory…
Hey lovers! Just yesterday, I had the exciting opportunity to be part of the exclusive reveal of the Advanced Génifique serum. The informative press event held at the L’Oréal South Africa Head Offices was led by Namate Moyo [ Marketing Manager for Lancôme ] , Ashley Fernandes [ National Education, Retail & Services Manager, L’Oreal Luxe ] and Dr Heidi [ Advanced Research Manager Sub-Saharan Africa at L’Oréal ] I must say, the best thing about this session was having Dr Heidi in the room. Dr Heidi’s portfolio covers South Sub Saharan Africa, which includes raw portfolio ingredient and technology support towards skin and hair. She is also in charge of the incubator and the open innovation L’Oréal does within her region. She did a great job at helping us understand all the scientific terms and how the skin works beyond what meets the eye. Now back to the product.…
When it comes to the branding exercise, I think that even the most marginally informed enthusiast would attest to the fact that the house of LVMH is an authority with the right idea on retail lifecycles. So, when I read the above eight words on their website, I was instantly filled with a sense of hope and excitement for retail institutions such as EDGARS – an endearing darling in the South African market. On Tuesday 10th April, Johannesburg’s beauty aficionados headed to Room Five, a venue at the Rivonia Village Centre in Sandton to join team EDGARS Beauty in the celebration of their strategic re-branding launch. MCd by celebrity make-up artist, Gina Myers, the event also included brief but informative speeches by strategist Mike Elliot and Julie Maggs (General Manager: Cosmetics, Jewellery & Watches: Edcon – EDGARS and EDGARS Beauty). With a few stores now closed across the nation, Elliot provided context on the reason…
Hello my beauty and fashion lovers, This week I’m bringing you all things skin and beauty. To kick start the new week, I had the opportunity of joining some of my favorite beauty bloggers at The Venue as Clinique introduced to us the newly lauched Clinique iD. Upon arrival we were handed “My Clinique iD passports” which were what we needed in our journey to unlocking great skin. With 15 combinations to choose from, the process of skin mapping was the key to fully understanding the ideal hydration for my skin, as well as the treatment which it needed. Customise, don’t compromise. So after the the skin mapping process, the Clinique Clinical Reality tool advised that I have uneven skin tone, and to address this, I should use the Active Cartridge Concentrate for Uneven Skin Tone. It also advised I use the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion in order to address…
About a week ago, I had the privilege of being invited to the beautiful Munro Boutique Hotel for the launch of MPL Hair’s latest addition to the family. Upon arrival, I was blown away by the amazing views and decor. What a great space to get in conversation with other women of color on our crowns and the importance of taking care of them even under the weaves and protective styles we may opt for. When it comes to natural hair, the primary hair-care tip to never forget is to moisturize. Using oils on your hair not only leaves it moisturized, it also helps seal in the moisture the hair currently holds. The most consistent member of my hair care routine, especially as I transitioned to natural hair about 6 years ago, has been MPL Hair. With over two decades of experience and becoming the trusted name in scalp and head health,…

Ninety percent of brain development happens before the age of five, yet more than two thirds of South African children under the age of five are still not receiving the crucial Early Childhood Development (ECD) education that could make or break their future potential. Their development – physical, cognitive and emotional – is compromised because they are not receiving the services and care needed at this very crucial time in their young lives. This is because the right stimulation and nutrition in the first five years of a child’s life directly impacts the development of neural pathways, which will later enable learning and the development of vital interpersonal skills. With this in mind, global skincare company NIVEA is offering hope for children in a rural community in KwaZulu-Natal. It has partnered with Thanda, a community-based organisation, to bring an innovative ECD Programme to children in this rural community. NIVEA provided…
So last night TRESemmé hosted the Inspired By New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Hair Collection. Unfortunately I was unable to make it due to work commitments, but thank goodness for social media and press releases right?!The lovely event was hosted by Lalla Hirayama, a well known presenter in the South African entertainment space. Quite an unassuming selection, but it makes perfect sense! The event showcased the latest hair trends straight off the NYFW runway. The hair styles were created by Ceecee Mabaso, a local stylist that TRESemmé partnered with and sent to work backstage at NYFW, alongside global TRESemmé hairstylist and stylist to the stars, Justine Marjan. I know CeeCee Mabaso personally and am so thrilled she got this opportunity of a lifetime. She literally lives and breathes HAIR. Her love and passion for hair is unquestionable. CeeCee currently owns and runs her salon in Durban which is called Hair Trends.…
I simply could not contain my excitement when I was granted the pleasure of collaborating with my all-time fave, DKNY Be Delicious. More than anything, I could not wait to share my experience of the fragrance as well as converse with other lovers of the fragrance. As previously mentioned, the DKNY Be Delicious scent is refreshing, but it also has an air of bold sophistication. The magic of DKNY Be Delicious is in how it makes me FEEL: in control. When wearing it, I feel unstoppable and ready to take on the concrete jungle that is Johannesburg as well as explore beyond my current environment and horizons. Just one spritz, and my mood shoots from zero to hero in a matter of seconds – it literally makes me feel delicious! Quite a key element for me is the packaging. The shape is very contemporary, and although round, its perfectly compact…
As women, I’ve noted through conversations that our biggest concerns when it comes to our skin is how tired it looks, fine lines and wrinkles. Personally, my biggest worry in addition to the previously mentioned concerns is whether or not my skin will co-operate the next morning, and the uncertainty always has me on edge. What if I have a big meeting, a shoot or casting first thing in the morning? I needed to find a product which would guarantee my skin wouldn’t look dull, but instead, full of life. Over the years I have also been hearing a lot more chat around the importance of using a night cream, in addition to using a day cream. That is why I thought I’d try out the new NIVEA Q10plusC Anti-Wrinkle + Energy series. Why NIVEA Q10plusC Anti-Wrinkle + Energy face care? The NIVEA Q10plusC Anti-Wrinkle + Energy skin care range is said to be highly effective. For…
