For the longest time, taking care of my hands hasn’t been at the top of the list of my priorities. I don’t seem to enjoy how any moisturizer, except for Vaseline, feels on my hands. However, of late I’ve been making a conscious effort to moisturize and care for my hands as I do for my face and feet. I mean, who wants crusty hands and feet anyway? Aside from looking crusty, the long term benefits of taking care of your hands by using a hand cream are definitely worth it. Our hands are our everything. Not an hour of the day goes by without us having to use our hands, and so this important tool deserves our attention. Our hands go through the absolute most, touching and handling all sorts of surfaces, shaking hands and getting in contact with harsh chemicals which have a harmful effect on our skin.…

I don’t think there’s ever been a crazier time to be a women in this world! The roaring inside of us, our strength, our compassion, our intellect and everything about ALL the women in us are being tested… in more ways than one. The woman who dares to strive for excellence ethically, without having to compromise who she is. The woman who is fierce enough to comfortably live in the skin she’s been blessed with but has to run through survival tactics everyday should harm come her way. The intelligent woman who finds value and meaning from being a homemaker but is faced daily with words thrown at her such as lazy or incapable. The woman who has to work multiple jobs and cross night to complete her studies. The woman who is beautiful enough to make it on a magazine but is of color and therefore her voice is invalid…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_AW32Yl6ps&spfreload=5 Each and every one of us have a woman/women who have played a significantly large role in seeing us to being the young ladies we are today. We simply don’t tell them enough how grateful we are for their presence in our lives or can’t put together in words our gratitude for all the moments we witnessed and those which they worked tirelessly “behind the scenes” to ensure we are well taken care of. For me, that woman in undoubtedly my mother, Fiki Tsekiso. The older I get the more I am able to recognise as well as appreciate the woman that she is to not only my sister and I, but to the community at large. This selfless mbokodo of mine has been through her fair share of trials and tribulations but always comes out stronger and wiser. When I think back to the time when both my sister…

Day in and day out, we are exposed to the sun’s harmful radiation also known as UV rays. Contrary to popular belief, whether it’s scorching hot or not, it’s important to have sunscreen as part of your skincare routine. This is an important commitment for you to take through all four seasons. Sunscreen, otherwise known to many others as sunblock, reduces your risk of getting skin cancer, sunburn as well as premature skin aging. I personally used to shun upon all these facts and take skin care for granted until I took the time to educate myself. Only now am I more conscious of the benefits of using sunscreen as part of my skincare routine. With technology developments, dermatologist have been able to formulate skin care products which are specific to ones skin types as well as different SPF levels. I believe this is a brilliant way forward because now your skins…

When I was much younger, my mother found it very important to educate us about all things health in a way we would best receive it. One day, she brought home a children’s read about a boy with a facial anomaly called a cleft lip. Now this was something I’d definitely not heard of or seen before, nothing I’ve ever heard of in the news or in the classroom. You can only imagine how smart I was feeling after reading the book and educating all of my classmates on the playground! Fast forward a couple of years later and once again Im confronted by the reality of a cleft lip. Now however, I’ve been exposed to a brand which is raising awareness and more importantly contributing to helping those in need. Labello has partnered with Smile foundation to help children who have facial anomalies by providing funding their corrective surgeries…

Hey guys! I’ve got some exciting news for all the ladies who struggle just as much as I do in the eye brow department. We all know that ones look is incomplete without the ultimate eye brow slay! I got the opportunity to try out the brow kit from Chelsea Beautique. New to the SA market, Chelsea Beautique offers a range of luxury eye and brow essentials. My experience : The brow kit arrives with the offering of 3 eye brow stencils, powder and a brush. Firstly, I must point out how important it is that you choose an eye brow powder which is as close as possible to that of your natural eye brow color. My color selection off of the smudge and water proof eye brow powders is called Midnight. It’s rather BOLD so you would have to wear it with make up, so choosing a more browner tone…

This gorgeous Labello pack includes the whole range so that I’m properly spoilt with variey, as well as the fierce newcomer to the family – Labello Blackberry Shine. This darker shade of fruity has a message:BRING OUT YOUR BOLD. This struck a chord and got me thinking; what is it really to be BOLD? The most famous of all brand call to actions has got to be “Just Do It” – three little words that have gotten into millions of people’s heads and shaped their lives! I won’t focus on the brand, but rather look into the concept – what is it about “just doing it” that makes us feel so empowered, even invincible? I would definitely say that it’s the raw sense…
