On Friday, 13 April, I had the pleasure of being hosted by the Eucerin team for their media launch and high tea at The Maslow. As I entered the conference venue, I was greeted by branding which clearly communicated “usingaye”, as we would say in Zulu, which was the Eucerin DermoPURIFYER range. Although I’ve never had acne, I found it important I share the information I’ve learned. With 13 400 reported internet searches in South Africa on acne per month, it’s evident such a product is needed in the market. The launch kick started with presentations and a scientific talk by Dr M. Reinholz. Dr Reinholz has completed his doctoral thesis in the devision in Clinical Pharmacology and now specializes as a dermatologist, has his own scientific working group and is also a lecturer. Trust me, this was all evident as he delivered an enlightening presentation. The presentation gave a…
Ninety percent of brain development happens before the age of five, yet more than two thirds of South African children under the age of five are still not receiving the crucial Early Childhood Development (ECD) education that could make or break their future potential. Their development – physical, cognitive and emotional – is compromised because they are not receiving the services and care needed at this very crucial time in their young lives. This is because the right stimulation and nutrition in the first five years of a child’s life directly impacts the development of neural pathways, which will later enable learning and the development of vital interpersonal skills. With this in mind, global skincare company NIVEA is offering hope for children in a rural community in KwaZulu-Natal. It has partnered with Thanda, a community-based organisation, to bring an innovative ECD Programme to children in this rural community. NIVEA provided…
For the longest time, taking care of my hands hasn’t been at the top of the list of my priorities. I don’t seem to enjoy how any moisturizer, except for Vaseline, feels on my hands. Aside from looking crusty, the long term benefits of taking care of your hands by using a hand cream are definitely worth it. Our hands are our everything. Not an hour of the day goes by without us having to use our hands, and so this important tool deserves our attention. Our hands go through the absolute most, touching and handling all sorts of surfaces, shaking hands and getting in contact with harsh chemicals which have a harmful effect on our skin.…
When I was much younger, my mother found it very important to educate us about all things health in a way we would best receive it. One day, she brought home a children’s read about a boy with a facial anomaly called a cleft lip. Now this was something I’d definitely not heard of or seen before, nothing I’ve ever heard of in the news or in the classroom. You can only imagine how smart I was feeling after reading the book and educating all of my classmates on the playground! Fast forward a couple of years later and once again Im confronted by the reality of a cleft lip. Now however, I’ve been exposed to a brand which is raising awareness and more importantly contributing to helping those in need. Labello has partnered with Smile foundation to help children who have facial anomalies by providing funding their corrective surgeries…
