It is so heart-warming and encouraging to see when corporates come together in support of a bigger picture. Nike and Totalsports have once again done just that with the Totalsports Women’s Race.
The race is in support of the PinkDrive. The PinkDrive is a breast cancer community carer which works in many ways to help those affected by breast cancer, and more especially encourage early detection of breast cancer.
“Early detection saves lives.”
Many of us know of someone who either has breast cancer or is affected by breast cancer. To find out more about what PinkDrive is all about, click here.
So I’ve decided to join in on the action and “run for life” for the very first time. I’ve had only 4 weeks to train and prepare for the 5km race. It’s been quite a challenge adjusting to the JHB air and getting a consistent routine going, but with the help of the Nike+ Run Club and Nike+ Training App I’m feeling quite prepared and confident.
As you can tell, I had to try myself with the Nike Air Vapormax. As much as people have been seeing me out and about rocking these babies for casual sports luxe looks, they’ve been just as instrumental if not more as part of my workout routines. These shoes undoubtedly have “the air to move you forward” with exceptional comfort, bounce and they’re so so light. Another element of the shoe which is personally of high importance for me when selecting a shoe is the foot support. When I first wore it I thought it was too tight. However, when I adjusted the laces and started walking as well as running in the VaporMax, I got a better understanding of the stretch and support the shoe offers. You can read up more on the VaporMax innovation.
I’ll be running the Johannesburg leg of the PinkDrive in Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown on Women’s Day (9th August). I hope I’ll be seeing you there.
The Cape Town leg will also take place on 9 August 2017 at Grand Parade.
In case you haven’t entered to “run for life” and want to be a part of a great cause you can submit your entry to run on www.totalsportswomensrace.com or select Totalsports stores. You can choose between the 5km race or take the option of the 10km race. In store entries close 26 July 2017 and online entries close 30 July 2017.
I hope to see you there!
